Welcome to the beta version of the new Women & Golf website. Our web monkeys are still hard at work and welcome your feedback.
The Burford experience starts when you arrive. Our stunning Cotswold property welcomes you with its lush green fairways that weave their way through mature trees.
Of course it’s all about the golf. The course is a fair test and a memorable experience, all played out on beautifully manicured surfaces. But it doesn’t stop there. Members and guests enjoy a full social calendar throughout the year and we welcome you to entertain family and friends whether it’s for casual dining or social functions.
We played Burford in their mixed open and had a great time. The course is a very pleasant parkland course and was well presented, with good greens. It’s two nines are on separate sides of a fairly busy road. Most holes are tree lined but not too densely so you can usually find your ball, or hit it onto a different fairway if you are a bit wild! The bunkering is very fair -avoidable with good shots and mostly doesn’t prevent you taking a direct shot. There’s a mix of challenges, mostly straight holes where you can see what you are doing, but also some strategic and blind holes. It did feel long and the fairway wood got lots of action, but it doesn’t feel intimidating, and it is pretty so I would recommend this course if you are in the area.
There are women’s clothes in the pro-shop, a good halfway hut with loos, plus some ‘privacy screens’ on two other holes, and the changing rooms were lovely.
