Welcome to the beta version of the new Women & Golf website. Our web monkeys are still hard at work and welcome your feedback.
Aberdovey Golf Club is enchantingly set within the Snowdonia National Park at the mouth of the Dovey Estuary, and the links are wedged between the Cambrian Mountain range and the shore.
Despite its old age, Aberdovey is not short, a true links course measuring over 6,500 yards from the back tees. It will test, and has tested, the very best golfers, playing host to a number of amateur championships over the years. It was here that Ian Woosnam came to practise on firm, fast greens prior to playing in the U.S. Masters each April. The course offers a challenge from a range of tees for golfers of all abilities.
Having played on muddy courses over the last few months it was great to play on such a well kept course, great fairways and carpet like fast greens.
They give you a little bag of soil and seed to fill in any divots and this obviously keeps the fairways in a good condition.
Lovely dry day with wall to wall sunshine no better place to be next to the sea.
Managed to get round with the same ball (usually lose one or two or more) as the rough hasn't yet grown to its summer height so a great time to play.
Nice to see a course with two lots of toilets (compost type so no running water) near the 5th and 11th.
Some tricky holes make it interesting. The 12th of course with great views over the sea if you go and have a look over the fence.
Nice pro shop and a lovely bar for that after game drink.

Aberdovey Golf Club (Clwb Golff Aberdyfi) is a thriving golf club with a very healthy ladies' section, made up of a mix of local and away members (many have holiday homes or caravans in the area). It is very popular with visitors and has dormy rooms available to book - the golf 'stay and play' package offers excellent value, and visitors rave about the fabulous breakfasts!
Whilst there are some long carries for some ladies, there is the option to play on the shorter measured blue tee 'Jubilee' course. The greens are usually very slick and true - a pleasure to putt on all year round. There are several ladies' and mixed open events, again offering good value and a lower-price alternative to the regular green fee. All details are on the club website.
There is a balcony which runs alongside the first floor bar and a lovely new terrace bar with fabulous views looking westwards down the 18th - the golden colours of the sanddunes on a summer's evening are to behold.
Ladies and all visitors are guaranteed a warm Welsh welcome when they visit this historic old club.
