The PING G Le4 is a strong option for women with moderate swing speeds who want a well-made, confidence-inspiring driver from a brand with a proven track record in forgiveness. It is lightweight, easy to launch, and noticeably more stable on mishits.
WHAT IT IS
The G Le4 is PING’s fourth-generation dedicated women’s driver, the flagship of a full women’s range launched in early 2026. It is not a lighter version of a men’s model — every element, from the head weight to the shaft and grip, has been specified for women golfers. It replaces the G Le3 and brings meaningful changes in both construction and stability.
WHAT IT DOES
The most immediately noticeable thing is how easy it is to swing. The combination of a lighter shaft, lighter grip, and a carefully balanced 460cc head means the club does not feel heavy or unwieldy, even for golfers whose swing speed sits at the lower end of the target range. If you have been struggling to generate speed with a heavier driver, this will feel like a different proposition.
Off-centre hits are where the G Le4 earns its reputation. The weight positioning in the head — lower, deeper, and positioned to maximise stability — means shots struck away from the sweet spot hold together better than you might expect. You lose less distance, and the ball stays on a more predictable line. For most club golfers, this is where a driver earns its value: not on the perfect strike, but on the three or four imperfect ones per round.
The face flexes efficiently across its surface, which helps protect ball speed on thinner strikes. The two stock shaft options — a Lite and an Ultra Lite — are a thoughtful touch, giving golfers with slower swing speeds access to the lighter build without needing an immediate custom fitting. That said, the ALTA LE shaft comes in two flexes only, so a custom shaft conversation may still be worthwhile for golfers outside those profiles.
WHO IT SUITS
The Established Golfer (handicap 20–36) is the natural fit here. The lightweight build, easy launch, and generous head size combine to make this a driver you can swing confidently without having to force anything. At address, the 460cc head is reassuring rather than overwhelming, and the club does its job without demanding perfection.
The Improver (handicap 10–24) with a moderate swing speed will also benefit, particularly if she is ready to move beyond beginner equipment but is not generating the clubhead speed to get the best from a heavier, performance-oriented driver.
WHAT TO CONSIDER
The G Le4 comes in a single loft of 11.5°, with ±1.5° of hosel adjustment — enough to fine-tune your launch, but less range than some competitors. If you suspect you need something significantly higher or lower, a fitting before purchase is sensible. At £550 it is priced in line with comparable women’s drivers from TaylorMade and Callaway, so you are not paying a premium for the PING name. Left-hand versions are available.
W&G VERDICT
The G Le4 is PING doing what PING does well: building a club that is properly engineered for the golfer it is aimed at rather than simply making something lighter. It is one of the more complete women’s drivers on the market right now, and it rewards a fitting to make the most of the shaft options. Take it to a bay before you decide, but do take it.
