Jane reviews one of the latest golf bag releases from golf brand OGIO - the Sunday-style golf pencil bag

The Sunday-style golf pencil bag is the latest addition to OGIO’s industry-defining portfolio of golf bag products. OGIO (Our Gear Is Organised) have been making high quality durable premium golf products since the late 1980.

Designed for comfort and convenience and built for golfers who want flexibility on the course, the OGIO Sunday-style golf pencil bag is also referred to as the Funday Stand Bag. It is a lightweight, practical golf bag that weighs around 3lbs – the same as a bag of oranges!

OGIO Funday golf bag - Looks

In my opinion, this is very much a casual bag you can take out for a few holes or down to the driving range.

I chose the Tropical Punch colourway as it had that jazzy feel. There are four other options - traditional ‘Black’, the green, white and yellow ‘Magnolia’, and the military-inspired ‘Wave Camo’. And just recently released 'Rocket Pops'.

The bag comes with ultra-lightweight stand legs, a foam moulded shoulder strap and hip pad, and durable lightweight recycled material ensure the bag is easy and comfortable to carry around the course. The material is not waterproof so its very much a dry Sunday afternoon/ summer evening/ driving range bag.

The two stand sticks are half size and unsprung. The shoulder pad is moulded and matches the design on the bag.

OGIO Funday golf bag - Practicalities

There are removable modular pockets to let you carry as much or as little stuff depening on what type of game or trip to driving range. A full-length Velcro strip gives you endless pocket placement combinations.

  1. Ball bag with tee holders
  2. Drinks holder although its a good place for balls too
  3. Velcro band for your golf glove
  4. Drinks/ bottle holder
  5. (Detachable) pocket with large zipped section
  6. Smaller (valuables) pocket

I am not used to carrying my clubs round in such a small bag. So, it took a little time to get to grips with putting the clubs in and out of the bag. I would probably prefer a thinner shoulder strap. I carried around 7 clubs including my putter and with headcovers it did sometimes feel a bit of a squeeze.

Maybe 5 clubs and a putter is the way forward.

And maybe I don't need to carry so much stuff!

Here's what OGIO say about the Sunday-style golf pencil bag

Michael Birch, head of OGIO EMEA, said: “At OGIO we are always looking at ways we can create new, innovative, and fun product in bold and daring colours that appeal to a range of golfers.

“The Funday is the epitome of that – we took the simplicity of a traditional short-course bag and infused it with OGIO-level organisation all without adding bulk or weight.

“Perfect for a casual weekend round, nine holes after work or a quick trip to a driving range, we feel the Funday will transform the way you carry, providing unparalleled organisation and convenience.”

We like...

  • Lightweight - making it easy to carry
  • Colour - fun, casual
  • As many pockets as you want or need
  • Material - recycled

We dislike...

  • Stand legs - they are not sprung so you fall between leaving them open as you carry or keeping them close and lying the bag on the floor
  • Shoulder pad - only one but feel it is too wide. Felt more comfortable onleft shoulder than right but seemed to be designed that way
  • Dividers - only two so if you take more than 6 clubs it does feel a bit tight for space

Final Score

As a fun bag that holds a few clubs to throw over your shoulder on a summer's evening this is a great asset.
