Dutch star will also lead Europe’s Junior Solheim Cup team in landmark double role
European Solheim Cup Captain Anna Nordqvist has appointed the Netherlands’ Anne van Dam as a Vice Captain for the 2026 Solheim Cup, which will be played at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11–13, 2026.
Van Dam, a five-time Ladies European Tour winner, will join fellow Vice Captains Caroline Hedwall of Sweden and Mel Reid of England in supporting Nordqvist as Europe prepares to face the United States in women’s golf’s biggest team event.
A Historic Dual Role
In addition to her Vice Captain duties, Van Dam will captain the European side in the PING Junior Solheim Cup, to be held at Bernardus on September 7–8, 2026. This marks the first time in history that the same course will host both the junior and senior events, and the first time a Junior Solheim Cup Captain will also serve as a Solheim Cup Vice Captain during the same week.
“This is such an honour,” Van Dam said. “To captain the Junior team and also support Anna during the Solheim Cup on home soil will be an incredible experience. I’ve been fortunate to play in the event and know how special it is. Now, stepping into a leadership role, I can share that experience with both the junior players and Team Europe.”
Nordqvist’s Confidence in Van Dam
Nordqvist, who has represented Europe in nine Solheim Cups, said she was delighted to welcome Van Dam to her leadership team.
“Anne brings energy, passion, and a deep connection to the Netherlands,” Nordqvist said. “She will be a fantastic influence on the players and on team spirit. Having her by my side will help make this Solheim Cup unforgettable.”
Bernardus to Host in Style
Bernardus Golf, which has hosted the KLM Dutch Open three times since opening in 2018, will take center stage as the Solheim Cup venue for the first time. Organizers promise an event that combines world-class golf with entertainment and hospitality at the highest level.
The Solheim Cup has become one of the premier events in women’s sport. Europe retained the trophy in 2023 after a 14-14 tie in Spain, while the USA won the most recent contest earlier this year in Virginia.
Tickets for the 2026 Solheim Cup are already on sale, with options ranging from general admission to premium hospitality at the “Tap Inn at the 15th Green,” expected to be one of the most popular viewing spots. Full details are available at www.solheimcup2026.golf/tickets
