In this archive interview with The Icons, Charley Hull talks to Tyler Waye about pressure, life beyond the scorecard and finding what works for her.
Charley Hull’s answer to a bad day on the golf course is to have something else to look forward to. For her, that is often the gym — a place she enjoys in its own right, rather than simply another obligation attached to her career.
More than a bad round
It is one of the more revealing threads in her conversation with Tyler Waye for The Icons by Motiversity. First published in July 2025, the interview moves beyond results to explore how she handles the demands of professional golf while remaining determined to be herself.
Hull describes enjoying pressure, but she also talks about keeping a disappointing round in perspective. Family, close friends and interests away from the course give her life a shape beyond the scorecard.
There is a useful distinction here: caring deeply about your golf does not have to mean letting every round decide how you feel about everything else.
Finding her own approach
The conversation is especially interesting when Hull discusses learning what works for her. She explains the value she finds in routine, while recognising that someone else may need a different approach. Her demanding training schedule is part of her own story, rather than a prescription for the rest of us.
For all the talk of ambition, it is that individuality which makes the interview worth revisiting. Hull is describing the things that help her enjoy her work, deal with scrutiny and return to the course ready to compete.
