Haeran Ryu birdied the first playoff hole to beat Brooke Henderson and win the Amundi Evian Championship, making it back-to-back Major titles for the Korean after her KPMG Women’s PGA Championship victory two weeks ago.
Ryu had led by three strokes overnight after a third-round 60 that stood as the lowest score in Major championship history. A level-par final round, including a dropped shot at the eighth, was enough to take her to 19-under and force a playoff after a birdie on the last.
It was the fourth Major of the LPGA season, and the win moved Ryu two-for-two since her breakthrough at the Women’s PGA Championship. The victory carried extra weight at Evian Resort Golf Club, where Ryu had won the Evian Junior Cup as a 14-year-old in 2015.

Speaking after her win, Ryu reflected on the speed of her rise to two Majors: “This is just a dream right now — before the last three weeks I didn’t have a Major championship, and now I have two in a row. I’m so happy and I can’t believe it right now.”
She traced her connection to the course back more than a decade: “I have such good memories from when I was 14 years old — I got a win with my friends and Team Korea. I always hoped to get a Major win at the Evian Championship because I have good memories here and this course is so beautiful.”
Henderson’s fightback falls just short

Brooke Henderson produced the round of the week to force the playoff, carding back-to-back 64s to close on 19-under. The Canadian, champion at Evian in 2022, had three eagles across the weekend, including a hole-in-one at the par-3 eighth.
Henderson made birdies at 15 and 16 before a bogey at 17, then produced an eagle at the last to force the playoff — only for a pulled tee shot on the first extra hole to leave her with a layup and a closing par that ended her hopes of a second Evian title.
“I played awesome today, which is really exciting,” Henderson said. “To finish second in a Major and third a couple of weeks ago, my game is in a really good spot. Congrats to Haeran — she’s been playing great.”
Woad’s halfway lead fades as Hull matches her at Evian
Japan’s Aki Iwai carded a closing 69 to finish alone in third on 18-under, five shots off the playoff pair, while compatriots Miyu Yamashita and Mao Saigo shared fourth on 15-under alongside Korea’s Jin Hee Im. Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko tied for seventh at 13-under.

Lottie Woad had set the pace at halfway with a second-round 64 to move a shot clear of the field, but a weekend of 72 and 73 dropped her back to a share of 16th on 8-under. Charley Hull finished alongside her on the same mark after a final-round 69, giving the pair matching results in a tie for 16th.
Jodi Ewart Shadoff was the third Englishwoman in the field and finished tied for 35th on 5-under. Among the wider European contingent, Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist tied for seventh at 13-under, France’s Nastasia Nadaud tied for 22nd at 7-under, and Sweden’s Maja Stark and Kajsa Arwefjall finished tied for 10th (11-under) and tied for 41st (4-under) respectively.
