2025 marked a turning point for female golf participation across England. Over 151,000 extra scores were submitted by women—a 14% rise from the year before. The biggest day for play was Bank Holiday Monday, 5 May, confirming a major new wave of active women golfers on the course.
Making Golf More Accessible
England Golf’s focus on inclusivity, coupled with better tech, drove new levels of engagement. The MyEG app made submitting scores and connecting with the sport easier for everyone. People favored shorter nine-hole games (up 28%) just as much as traditional full rounds, indicating the demand for more casual, flexible play.
New Pathways for Beginners

The iGolf platform for independent golfers now boasts over 72,800 members, with female sign-ups rising by 34%. Meanwhile, iPlay—designed to welcome newcomers and infrequent golfers—jumped 61% to 10,400 registrants this year. England Golf confirms these programs work: over 2,000 iPlay users moved into iGolf, and more than 9,600 iGolf players joined formal clubs in 2025 alone.
The Momentum Continues
Richard Flint, England Golf’s COO, credits success to the sport’s efforts to be more welcoming, plus excitement from recent international wins. With pathways now in place for beginners right up to club level, England Golf sets a new standard for making the sport open to everyone.
