Captains swap golf clubs for bikes as tickets go on sale for next year’s event
The countdown to one of women’s golf’s biggest events is officially underway. With exactly one year to go until the 2026 Solheim Cup at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, tournament organizers marked the milestone with a celebration that blended golf with the country’s cycling culture.
European Captain Anna Nordqvist and Vice-Captain Caroline Hedwall joined USA Captain Angela Stanford and Assistant Captain Paula Creamer for a scenic bike ride alongside professional Dutch cyclists Fem van Empel and Lieke Nooijen. Starting at Den Bosch Station, the group followed the same cycling route that many fans will use to travel to Bernardus Golf when the Solheim Cup takes place 7–13 September 2026.
A focus on sustainability
The ride also highlighted one of the event’s key commitments: sustainability. The 2026 Solheim Cup aims to set new standards for eco-friendly sporting events. Instead of traditional parking, fans will be encouraged to use public transport, bike routes, and other low-emission options. Additional initiatives include renewable energy, waste reduction, local catering, water-efficient operations, and nature restoration.
The Netherlands is already a leader in sustainable golf. Of the 314 golf courses worldwide certified by the GEO Foundation, more than 100 are Dutch—including Bernardus, which is recognized as one of the most sustainable clubs in Europe.
Tickets now available
Fans can now purchase general admission passes as well as hospitality packages, including access to “Tap Inn at the 15th Green”, which is expected to be one of the most popular spots on the course. Full details are available at www.solheimcup2026.golf/tickets

Captains share their excitement
Reflecting on the year-ahead milestone, Nordqvist said:
“With this warm welcome we can really feel the community support for the 2026 Solheim Cup. Bernardus is a beautiful venue, and I know the buildup to next September will go by quickly. I’m looking forward to what will undoubtedly be one of the proudest weeks of my life.”
Stanford, who has played in six Solheim Cups, added:
“Bernardus will be a fantastic stage for this competition. The course layout and condition are both stellar, and I plan to spend more time here to get familiar with it. The biking kickoff was a blast, and I can’t wait to be back in 12 months with our team, ready to give the Dutch crowds a great show.”
