Women & Golf travel partner, Golf Travel Group, introduce the PGA Professionals offering coaching trips abroad whether you're a solo traveller, couple or group

Coaching trips abroad are not a new phenomenon, however, the increasing number and popularity of them is an area of golf travel that has seen a big boost since Covid.

What could be better than heading to a warm destination, whether that be on your own, with a partner or group of golf friends to spend some quality time brushing up your golf skills with a qualified professional and experiencing the golf courses in the resort or local area?

Our golf travel partner, Golf Travel Group, have a number of PGA Professionals who take coaching trips abroad, whether it be to a European destination like Greece or somewhere further afield like Mauritius. There is a golf coaching trip to suit your holiday destination needs.

With this in mind, we thought who better to give us some insight into what we can expect from a coaching trip abroad than the PGA Professionals themselves.

In our first Meet the Pro - we caught up with Lucinda Davies, who runs many coaching trips abroad throughout the year.

What attracted you to coaching abroad?

I love travelling and exploring new places but moreover, I love escaping the cold wet UK weather - playing in the sunshine at 5* resorts and courses is the best.

What are the benefits of attending a coaching trip abroad?

There are no distractions of busy everyday life. I get clients to fully focus on an action packed fun golfing itinerary to maximise the most of their time away. You also don’t get a chance to forget anything (with notebooks to help) as we do three days of coaching and playing so plenty of time to ask questions and practice.

What would I expect if I were to attend one of your coaching trips?

To meet lots of interesting people all with the same goal - to improve and enjoy your golf game more. You are looked after from the minute you step off the plane to when you leave the resort. You will come away excited to practice and play back at your home course, where you can put all your new skills into action.

Do all your coaching trips have the same format?

Yes, they all follow a similar itinerary with training in the morning, nice break for coffee and 18 holes with dinners organised in the evening. The golf formats will vary daily subject to the group level.

Do you also offer mixed coaching trips as well as women only?

Yes, I have been running more and more couples/mixed trips in the last 5 years which are really popular and work well.

Do you need a particular level of golfing ability to join your trips?

I try and tailor trips to similar levels/characters as I typically know most of the clients on trips. Many times friends of clients will join and I try and always meet any new clients first. Getting similar levels of ability is very important.

Do you have any tips for solo travellers looking to join a group coaching trip?

I have a large amount of solo travellers and they always gel really well. It’s all about the right mindset and if we all love golf and are there to have a fun time and learn lots they will definitely have a good time at the resorts I take them to.

What is your top golf travel tip?

Invest in a good golf club hold-all which is easy to pull and will keep your clubs protected.
