Heritage Golf Club in Mauritius has been named ‘Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course’ for the second year in a row at the annual World Golf Awards.

The World Golf Awards convened earlier this month in the Algarve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism through their annual awards programme.

For the second year in a row Heritage Golf Club in Mauritius was named ‘Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course’. The award comes at a time when the club is attempting to widen its global prescence with the appointment of Henni Zuel as their professional golf ambassador. English professional Zuel, whose parents are Mauritian, was the youngest ever player to the Ladies European Tour as an amateur. As an ambassador Henni will be promoting the course worldwide and using it as a base for training.

It is an exciting time for Heritage Golf Club, which has firmly cemented itself as a true championship golf course following the success of the Inaugural AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in May this year. The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is the first ever tri-sanctioned golf tournament endorsed by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours, and was held at Heritage Golf Club on the 7th to the 10th of May this year. This year’s winner was George Coetzee. The course was also selected to host the most prestigious amateur event in the Indian Ocean– the MCB Indian Ocean Amateur.
