Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel is to host its second annual Festival of Golf in the heart of one of Britain's most iconic and quirky seaside holiday villages, best known for a house that floats among the clouds!

With windmills, mock-Tudor architecture and a manmade boating lake that inspired children’s fairytale story Peter Pan - the three day festival of golf runs from July 29-31 and will be played over the 93-year-old Thorpeness golf course designed by five-time Open Champion James Braid.

Rated as one of the finest coastal heathland courses in Southern England, golfers entering the festival will enjoy individual and team competitions, evening entertainment, events and coaching clinics with European Tour coach Bill Ferguson – former coach to Colin Montgomerie - and Thorpeness Golf Club Head Professional Frank Hill.

Last year’s festival attracted golfers from across the UK as well as entrants from Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and East Anglia and the organisers hope to establish it as a popular event on the amateur golf calendar.

Ajay Anthony, general manager at Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel, said: “Thorpeness is an ideal destination for a summer golf festival, a quintessential English seaside village with a great golf course surrounded by outstanding natural beauty. We are offering a range of options to golfers, from great value golf breaks packages for the entire festival to pay and play entries into competitions and social events for golfers local to Suffolk.”

A range of stay-and-play packages are available for the Thorpeness Golf Festival with prices starting from only £199, with an added option to extend the stay and receive a free round of golf.

The 36-bedroom golf hotel, part of the TA Hotel Collection of independent Suffolk hotels, is located in the heart of Thorpeness - one of Suffolk’s most popular and quirky seaside holiday villages – famous for its ‘House in the Clouds,’ windmill and Meare boating lake.

The Thorpeness course winds through pine, gorse, heather and silver birch trees and benefits from firm, sandy fast running fairways. It regularly hosts national amateur events, including the English Seniors Championship and regional and national PGA events, including the PGA Super 60’s tournament.

The 2nd Annual Thorpeness Festival of Golf culminates with a prize giving and gala dinner at the Thorpeness Country Club, a 1920’s style pavilion with a boardwalk, high beamed ceilings, wood panelled floors and sea views.
