Belmond names legendary European Ryder Cup captain and world-renowned golfing professional Sam Torrance as host of the ‘Scottish Golf Tour’ on board Belmond Royal Scotsman from 26th – 30th June 2017.

Carrying just 40 passengers, the intimate social atmosphere on board the UK’s only luxury sleeper train, means there is plenty of opportunity for golfers to get to know Torrance along route.

Departing from Edinburgh, this fully inclusive four-night ultimate golfing adventure, offers guests the unique chance to play with a champion golfer and take on the challenge of three of Scotland’s award-winning courses, including Royal Dornoch Golf Club and Castle Stuart Links Course in the Highlands. As one of the game’s most charismatic characters, Torrance will share his top tips as he joins guests for a round of golf and later reveal his most amusing tales as a professional golfer at an after dinner gathering in the train’s Observation Car.

Torrance says “It is not often I get to spend time with people who love the game, whilst travelling in such style through my beautiful homeland. I am looking forward to experiencing the wonderful atmosphere and hospitality on board Belmond Royal Scotsman and it is a true luxury to be able to appreciate the scenery, with no pressure of having to make a putt!”

Away from the fairway, there is plenty of downtime for guests to indulge in the hearty Scottish fare served on board and marvel at the magnificent scenery as the train makes it way from Edinburgh up to Cairngorms National Park (an impressive expanse of hillsides, mountains and wildlife) and on to picturesque Boat of Garten and Kyle of Lochalsh. Whilst play is in action, non-golfers can visit Dunrobin Castle, seat of the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland, visit Glenmorangie distillery, and join excursions to ‘pearl of the north’ Ballindalloch Castle, the exquisite Pitmedden Gardens and 13th Century Fyvie Castle.

The ‘Scottish Golf Tour’ from 26th – 30th June 2017 is priced at £6,183 per person. Sam Torrance will join guests for the first two nights (26th-28th June) and the journey includes all table d'hôte meals, all alcoholic and other beverages, all sightseeing excursions as shown in the itinerary and accommodation on board for two people sharing a twin cabin. Green fees, electric golf carts, lunches with house wine at all three courses are also included. Sam will join the journey for the first two nights of the journey, and join guests
