Golf on the Costa Daurada

If you're looking for an authentic Mediterranean experience on your next golf break, we recommend the Costa Daurada – the hidden gem of Spanish golf nestled close to Barcelona.

A holiday to the Costa Daurada truly showcases the depth and beauty of the Catalonian region, with championship golf, idyllic beaches, cultural delights and a great climate all-year-round. It's also quick and easy to get to, with a convenient network of transport through highways, highspeed trains, sea and air.

Home to seven championship golf courses, the sun-soaked region is an obvious choice for a golfing retreat. Five of them have hosted European Tour Events, with the Bonmont Golf Course preparing to host the European Tour Qualifying School Second Stage in November 2019. Similarly, Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community is also welcoming the next generation of European Tour professionals. As host to the European Tour Final Qualifying Stage this November, over 200 budding hopefuls will battle it out over six rounds to gain one of around 25 cards for next season.

Away from the fairways, it's the plethora of attractions that really make the Costa Daurada stand-out as a must-visit destination. Nestled between six wine regions and surrounded by a wealth of world-class local restaurants, the region is a delight for foodies willing to enjoy the Mediterranean gastronomy in Costa Daurada.

Not to forget is its cultural heritage that encompasses spectacular UNESCO World Heritage sites. Strolling among the jewels of modernism in Reus, discovering the vestiges of Roman heritage in Tarragona or learning about medieval life in monasteries through the Cistercian Route, are just some examples of the cultural experiences in Costa Daurada.

Cultural sites are complemented with a unique calendar of local festivals and traditions, culminating at the annual Human Towers festival, a unique display of Catalonian culture where participants compete with the aim of building the highest and most complex human tower.

Dating back to the 18th Century and recently classified by UNESCO as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the tradition has become increasingly widespread in recent years and visitors will be able to spot the human pyramids at annual festival throughout the region, headlined by the City of Human Towers competition which takes place in Tarragona each October.
