It's official! Not only are women quicker golf players, but they get back from the club on time more often than men too, according to a recent survey by OnlineGolf.co.uk. Maybe a GPS is the answer?

Not only are women quicker golf players, but they get back from the club on time more often than men too, according to a recent survey by OnlineGolf.co.uk.

The survey, which received 433 responses, found that 11.7% of women can finish a game of golf in 2-3 hours, compared to only 7.9% of men.

This quicker play could be due to women being at the forefront of golfing technology, with 100% of the women surveyed saying that they either do use or have used a golf GPS device, whilst 2% of men haven’t used one at all. That’s not to say they don’t need one though, as 76% of women said that they would want a GPS device for Christmas.

Not only did the research show that women are quicker around the course, they’re also much more likely to be home on time compared to men. Whilst 62.4% of men are between 30 minutes and 2 hours late back, 57% of women are only up to 30 minutes late back or not late back at all.

This punctuality does make women more likely to complain about their partner being late home, with 31% of women complaining when they’re late back compared to just 12% of men.

When asked what a golf GPS device helps with, a resounding 92% of responses said club selection, 77% said it would help with yardage and 52% said it would lower their handicap. Other answers included:

•         44% - avoiding hazards

•         22% - reduce slow play

•         16% - keeping track of scores

•         3% - reading the green

James Duggan, Online Marketing Manager of OnlineGolf, said, “Women are often stereotypically seen as the slower players, but our survey suggests this may not actually be the case.

“The quicker playing time is allowing women to get back home on time as well – something I think all men have tried and failed to do before. Hopefully these findings will make men speed up their game a bit and get home earlier – helping avoid any nagging from partners!”

Ladies... Maybe getting him a GPS for Christmas is the answer!
