If you need any proof that golf can be enjoyed by everyone- regardless of ability, gender, or anything else- then you need to read this inspirational story from reader, Aimi Bullock.

Aimi Bullock

As part of Women & Girls’ Golf Week, we asked our readers to share their stories with us about how they got into golf and what they love about the sport, and whilst we have been inundated with replies, none were quite as inspirational as this one from Aimi Bullock.

If you need any proof that golf is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone- regardless of ability, gender, or anything else- then you need to read this.

Here’s Aimi’s story…

"I am a member at Woking Golf Club and just made it to single figures- my handicap is now 9.2. I have multiple sclerosis and play in European Disabled Golf events. I am currently the only lady in the Elite England Disabled Golf squad.

Disabled Golf has been life-changing for me and I’m sure it would be for many others too. I’ve met two ladies in the past month, both of whom have disabilities and didn’t know that Disabled Golf even existed, so I’m very passionate about raising awareness of the great initiatives that are available for people with disabilities."

Women & Girls’ Golf Week

England Golf launched their inaugural Women & Girls’ Golf Week yesterday, a week-long campaign that aims to celebrate the successes of women and girls in different roles in golf, and to challenge the misconceptions and stigmas that surround the sport.

Every day of Women & Girls’ Golf Week has a different theme; yesterday focused on the women who have made a career out of the golf industry, so we told you about Mei Tierney, Marketing Manager at PowaKaddy, and today’s focus is all about the hidden heroes behind the game- the volunteers. You can read our latest story about Sarah Smith here to find how she is involved in growing and developing the game.

Don’t forget, you can join in the conversation by sharing your story using #WhyIGolf
