On 4 June 2019, thousands of women and girls around the world will take part in Women’s Golf Day, but what does it really mean for the game?

Now in its fourth year, Women’s Golf Day is the largest, single-day celebration of women’s golf in the world, with free taster sessions, coaching days and networking events taking place around the globe.
Since the first Women's Golf Day in 2016, events have been held at over 900 venues in 52 countries, reaching over 50,000 women and girls. Now, thanks in part to its collaboration with Annika Sorenstam’s ANNIKA Foundation, the initiative is expected to reach even further and make an even bigger impact on the world of golf. But what does it really mean for the game?
As clubs, organisations, charities and foundations unite around the world to support Women’s Golf Day, the initiative propels women’s golf into a global spotlight. With all eyes on the game, it creates more opportunities than ever before to introduce women to golf. It is our chance to make the game more accessible, to empower women to learn new skills, make new friends and join a growing community – one they’ve probably never even realise existed.
Annika explains:
"Golf teaches you so much about life. It is so much more than just a game. It’s a community, it’s friendships, it’s fitness, it’s mental well-being, it’s challenging and most of all, it’s fun!"

In 2019, there are more initiatives, events and campaigns than ever before, all forcing golf to become more accessible and encourage more woman to take up the game. Though Women’s Golf Day only takes place on one day of the year, it has the potential to create a much longer lasting impact on the game.
