Take Your Medicine At The Health Shot

If you find yourself hitting endless balls without yielding any results, it may be that your game is in need of a check up. Women & Golf took a trip to the Health Shot, a new experience designed to revolutionise the way you think about your golf, to take our medicine.

Based at Nuffield Health and Golf Studios, Surbiton, this new clinic is designed to transform your approach from that of club amateur to seasoned tour professional. We thought it was time to sharpen up our game so we went along to find out more.

Headed by Ladies European Tour player Henni Zuel, the Health Shot combines golf and fitness in a new way, to give golfers a glimpse of what goes on behind the ropes on tour. It is available year round so on a rainy January day we went along in the hope of improving our golf. We were immediately transported to the life of a tour professional. No more rolling into the car park 5 minutes before our tee time, chocolate bar in hand. From now on, if we wanted to play consistent golf, we needed to smarten up our approach.

After a few loose shots in the simulator, it was time for a much needed warm up with the physio. Then on to the nutritionist and strength and conditioning coach for some very valuable advice about how to prepare our bodies to play the best golf we can. Once primed to perform there was the opportunity to pick Henni’s brains, before getting down to business with a challenge match against Henni herself.

It turns out a day might not be enough to compete with the best but we’ll be sure to never approach our game the same way again.

The day, hosted by Henni Zuel and her team of nutritionist David Dunne of Harlequins rugby, physio Mark Leyland and Trainer Al Barnard both of Locker 27 Gym in Weybridge is available for both individuals and corporate days. An individual session costs £300 per day or £800 for a four ball.
