The Masters is always special but there was something extraordinary about this year's tournament. We look back at some of our favourite moments from the week.

Jack Nicklaus Poignant Salute To His Old Friend

jacknichlaussalute

The first Masters without Arnold Palmer was inevitably going to be emotional. This poignant salute to the late legend of the game will go down as one of the most iconic images in golf. Alongside Gary Player, it was hard not to be moved as the pair shared laughter and tears as they remembered their old friend at the ceremonial first tee shot.

Sergio Finally Earns His First Major

sergiogarciawin

Few cannot rejoice in the fact that Sergio FINALLY exorcised his major demons at Augusta National. After nineteen years of heartbreak and despair, the Spaniard claimed the major title which had for so long eluded him. It looked as if Sergio would again crumble under the pressure, as he had so many times before, after the four-footer he had to claim the Green Jacket in regulation play slipped agonisingly past, and it was hard not to wonder whether his comment five years previous, that he did not have what it takes to win a major, would again be fulfilled. The pure joy on Sergio's face when he came back to win in a play-off was enough to bring a smile to the face of even his most ardent critics. There can be few more worthy winners.

Sergio's Win Falling On Seve's Sixtieth Birthday

sergioseve

It seemed fitting that Sergio's victory should fall on Seve's birthday, particularly with the magical way he played the final few holes. The Spaniard paid thanks to his childhood idol, as well as another national legend, José María Olazábal, as he celebrated a victory nineteen-years in the making. It's hard to think of a better way to honour Seve's memory.

The Look On This Boy's Face

mattkucharboy

Potentially our favourite moment from the entire week. The look of pure joy on this boy's face after Matt Kuchar handed him the ball with which he had just aced the 16th, epitomised everything that is great about the game of golf.

Sergio and Justin's Friendship

The friendship and respect shared between Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose, even over the final few holes, was just great to see. The pair shared high fives and smiles as they revelled in the remarkable golf that they were both playing. Sportsmanship at its very best.

The Low Amateur's Surprising Revelation

hagestad

Stewart Hagestad became the first US Mid-Amateur Champion to make the cut at the Masters, on his way to winning the Low Amateur prize. But while most youngsters dedicate themselves to trying to make a living on Tour, it was refreshing, and somewhat surprising, to hear the twenty-five-year-old's revelation that he had no intention of giving up his job as a financial analyst to try his hand at professional golf.

Congratulations To Masters Champion Sergio Garcia. Read More
