The golf superstar and his wife Erica have welcomed a beautiful baby girl.

We love hearing about all the golf mums on Tour, and we think the golf dads definitely deserve a mention, too.

Especially when they're as likable as Rory McIlroy.

The four-time Major winner revealed that he had become a father for the first time on Thursday September 3, posting a gorgeous black and white image of a super tiny foot and hand along with his own on social media.

Poppy Kennedy McIlroy was born on August 31 12:15pm in Florida, and the 31-year-old Northern Irish player seems absolutely smitten.

He said:

"She is the absolute love of our lives. Mother and baby are doing great."

The little girl is his first child with his wife Erica.

This weekend Rory is competing in the East Lake Tour Championship, where he is the defending champion. Although of course it will be understandable if his mind is else where.

Speaking to the Golf Channel on Thursday (September 3) he said:

"I mean, emotionally drained, right? We got her home yesterday and we're trying to get her settled. It's nice in the hospital. You've got so much help and all the nurses are around and they did a phenomenal job. And then you're handed your child and they're like, ‘See you later,’ and they don't come with an instruction manual.”

Anyone else know the feeling?!

Congratulations Rory and Erica!
