In her latest column for Women & Golf, BBC news presenter Naga Munchetty questions whether golfers are using their golf gadgets properly to improve performance.
I imagine that many of you received golf gadgets for Christmas. I do wonder though if these are put to the correct use. It often frustrates me that when someone receives a DMD that they assume it will knock shots off their round immediately. It won’t!
Unless you put some work in yourself there’s little point knowing the distance to the green if you don’t know which club will get you there. This is the time to make
sure that you know how far your clubs go. Also, there are fitness related gadgets. Again, make sure you’re comparing how many steps or calories you were burning before you had the gadget. The idea is to encourage you to reach a certain target, not just look at it to confirm you are doing what you’ve always done.
To be healthier: move more, eat better. To be a better golfer: practise more, work on your weaknesses. If only it were that easy...
