Naga Munchetty: Favourite Golf Day Experience

Women & Golf columnist and single figure golfer, Naga Munchetty recently experienced one of her favourite golf days ever, discover what she got up to in her most recent article...

As the next edition of Women & Golf is on the shelves this Friday, here’s a sneak preview of what you can expect from columnist Naga Munchetty this month.

I’ve often said that playing one good shot in a round of golf is enough to bring you back. Well imagine how I felt after shooting a fabulous round of golf in the Betfred British Masters pro-am (we know my record in pro-ams hasn’t been great in previous years) - I was over the moon!

I played with “Mr 59” Oliver Fisher, fellow broadcaster Clare Balding and former England goalkeeper, Rachel Finnis - what a team! We had so much fun, and we had to, because for the first9 holes at fabulous Hillside Golf Club in Southport, we were battling wind and rain, so it was a case of “we’re here to play and enjoy the experience, whatever golf turns up”.

I’m sure Clare and Rachel won’t mind me saying that they were a little nervous of playing in this pro-am, but funnily enough, because I have never really played well in these things I was pretty relaxed, as I had no high expectations.

We were the only female team playing that afternoon and that gave us a bit of impetus to make sure that we put in a good score. What we didn’t expect was to gel so well as a group.
