Michelle Wie may have looked stunning at the HSBC Women's Champions last week, but would you want  to see her athletic outfits hitting the fairways at your local golf club?

From the moment Michelle Wie caught the world’s attention as a precocious fourteen-year-old, she’s made quite a habit of hitting the headlines.

Whether it’s attempting to take on the men, her sporadic form, or the recent revelation that she’d taken to Google to cure her putting woes, Wie’s career has been anything but ordinary.

So, when she finally started playing the golf that everybody knows she is capable of at last week’s HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore, it was little surprise that she did so in an outfit that was anything but conventional.

As her putter finally ignited on day one at Sentosa Golf Club, the 6-foot Nike star could be seen sporting a collarless, razorback shirt and a skirt that would have most golf clubs reaching for their measuring tapes.

It might be an outfit more at home on a tennis court than a golf course but it’s fair to say she looked incredible.

Whilst the LPGA prohibits ‘working out’ gear, most girls on tour dress more like athletes than traditional golfers. With the players contending with high humidity and 90-degree heat last week in Singapore, it’s hard to berate them for doing so.

Most of us might only dream of having Wie’s figure but there’s certainly a case for allowing amateurs to wear similar attire to that worn week in, week out by the pros. After all it's hard to argue that Wie’s outfits last week did anything to compromise the integrity of the game.

In contrast as one of the biggest female role models in golf it’s great see her wearing something that young girls can relate to and would choose to wear themselves.

Time to see the gear worn by the pros accepted by the average golf club? Absolutely!
