The global celebration is this year being marked by a huge online event featuring a charity auction and celebrity appearances from the most famous faces in golf.

Women's Golf Day

Women's Golf Day (WGD) is now less than a week away, and joining the celebration on Tuesday 2 June will be some of the biggest names in the industry including multiple Major winners Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam.

We were delighted to announce earlier this month that instead of being postponed or cancelled, the event is still going ahead as a virtual celebration with the live edition set to take place on 1 September.

This means that although we can't join our friends for a round or party, we can still celebrate everything that's brilliant about women's golf with a full day of entertainment, tips and prizes, all presented by some of the most famous faces in the world of golf.

WGD is hosting an online charity auction to raise money for Doctors Without Borders and their battle against COVID-19, and we were just a bit excited to see that Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam are amongst the big names who have already donated.

Jack and his wife Barbara have released a video message ahead of the big day and more messages from the legendary player will be revealed during the event itself.

The auction goes live on May 28 and runs through until midnight on June 2 with a line up of amazing prizes including once-in-a-lifetime rounds on prestigious courses and a series of fantastic experiences provided by Real Club Valderrama, Experience Ireland Golf and Travel and the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The full list will be revealed on May 28 and you can still register to take part via the website.

Joining in on June 2 will also get you access to a full programme of videos featuring golf tips, fitness routines, interviews and inspiring stories from famous faces and Tour players past and present.

The #StayAtHome video content is all free and perfect for enjoying from the comfort of our sofas/back gardens.

Not bad, right?

Elisa Gaudet, Founder of Women’s Golf Day says:

“The industry is pulling together to make sure that June 2nd is still an incredible day.  I am so pleased that our long-term supporters around the world have been able to offer amazing auction prizes and we are thankful to every celebrity, golfer and supporter of the game who has provided the content that will make June 2nd shine.  We can’t wait to show the world what virtual Women’s Golf Day is all about!”

We're also being encouraged to join in and share our golfing memories by using the hashtag #WGDUnites.

We don't know about you, but we really can't wait.
