Chubbs the monster alligator is spotted for the first time in two years. The 16ft beast who soaks up the sun on a Florida golf course is filmed casually strolling across a fairway (and he looks even bigger).
The infamous alligator, named Chubbs, who enjoys spending his days soaking up the sun on a Florida golf course, has been spotted again.
Chubbs, who was last seen on the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in 2016, returned to his favourite lounging spot to shock a few golfers.
In a video shared to Facebook by Sage Stryczny, the beast was seen strolling across the grass about 50 feet away.
Stryczny told WFLA that he was with his dad when they ‘were about to hit off the tee on a par 3 and we saw him laying right on the green'.
“He took a lot of rests,” said Stryczny, who believes the gator must have been on his way from a small pond to another larger pond.
“It was definitely a cool sight to see.”
In 2016, golfers in Palmetto, Florida, were playing golf at the golf course when Charles Helms spotted Chubbs casually strolling across the course.
The dinosaur-like gator looked even bigger when another man came into the frame to take a picture.
'People have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture,' golf course employee Wendy Schofield told News 3 in 2016.
'He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County.'
'There have been guesses that he's 15 to 16 feet long. The word has spread that this is a great place to come and play. He is the highlight, but we are worth the price too,' she added.
If the estimations of the gator's size are close to correct, this one could make the history books.
The biggest alligator ever recorded in Florida was 14 feet long and 780 pounds.
