It's your last chance to enter the Golf Foundation Charity Pro-Am. Held at the London Golf Club in Kent, the event raises vital funds for the foundation's initiatives that encourage more girls to enjoy the game.
The Golf Foundation Pro-Am – held this year on Monday 8 October – is supported by the European Tour Foundation and is always a hugely popular event among golf-lovers- professionals and amateurs alike.
Each year, European Tour professionals have welcomed groups of amateurs to help make the Pro-Am a superb day in the diary of many golfers who want to show their support of junior grass roots golf via the Golf Foundation, the nationally recognised charity which aims to make the benefits of golf available to any young person and help them to ‘Start, Learn and Stay’ in the sport.
This year, the event will be staged at the London Golf Club in Kent. As one of the country’s most popular golfing venues, the tournament will be contested on The Heritage course, a classic Jack Nicklaus design that has twice hosted the European Open.
Teams of three amateurs will be supported by a Tour professional in a Stableford better-ball competition with prizes and on-course challenges. The atmosphere is always very friendly as amateurs are joined by European Tour, European Challenge Tour, and Staysure Tour players, and this year, in celebration of supporting girls’ golf in the Pro-Am, five Ladies European Tour players will join in the action at London Golf Club. For the first time this year, hole sponsorship is available to companies who wish to show their support for £250.
Attractions include a champagne breakfast before a shot-gun start, a three-course meal and a charity auction and raffle. Bookings are for £950 per team. Taking a team not only makes for a fantastic day but can help the Golf Foundation to welcome a new generation of girls into the game at a time when all in golf recognise the need to increase participation significantly.
Vanessa Bell, Head of Fundraising for the Golf Foundation, said: "This year, our innovative programmes that encourage more girls into the sport will benefit directly from our fundraising in the Pro-Am".
"The growth of girls’ golf has been a special focus of this charity in recent years as we help make golf more accessible to all young people from different backgrounds and abilities".
"Development projects for girls at school, community and club level have been a success, from engaging with Brownie/Guide groups via golf, growing the game for girls significantly in schools, to club focused projects like Girls Golf Rocks and GolfSixes League; these are all making a genuine difference for the good of the game as a whole".
Across all fundraising, the Golf Foundation relies on support from all golfers as it introduces half-a-million young people to golf every year through its ‘HSBC Golf Roots’ programme, creating a pathway from school and community golf to regular play at the golf club.
