Ha Na Jang, one of the most colourful players in the game, has announced that she is rescinding her LPGA membership.

The Korean, ranked World No. 10, announced in a press conference on Tuesday, that she will return to play in her native country in order to spend more time with her family.

"There was a void that couldn't be filled even by all the victories," Jang said in a news conference Tuesday in Seoul, South Korea. "And I made this decision because I decided to spend time with my family as this is more precious than becoming the best golfer in the world. I want to enjoy the rest of my golfing career with my parents and my loved ones around me."

"I made up my mind after seeing my mother, who's close to 70, lead such a lonely life here," Jang said. "I thought being the best in the world was my only goal. But from now on, I'll spend as much time with my mother as I can."

Jang, 25, best known for her victory celebrations, won the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in February, adding to the three LPGA titles she picked up in 2016.

Despite her success, she has struggled in the aftermath of a freak accident involving her father and fellow Korean star In Gee Chun, which sparked a media firestorm back in the home country. The incident, in which Jang’s travel bag fell down an escalator injuring Chun as the pair travelled to the HSBC Women’s Champions, an event Jang would go on to win, would eventually leave her hospitalised with a stress-related illness.

She has not played since losing out in the first round of the Lorena Ochoa Match Play Championship.
