Michelle Wie may well have a feeling of déjà vu when she steps on the first tee at the ANA Inspiration tomorrow, after being paired with fourteen-year old Lucy Li.
Li, who stole our hearts three years at the US Open, when she became the youngest golfer in the modern era to play in a major championship, has qualified for the event after winning the ANA Junior Inspiration.
It's hard not to make comparisons with Wie, who tied for fourth in the old Kraft Nabisco at the same age. She had previously finished ninth as a thirteen-year-old. Despite that early promise the American has never made the famed leap into Poppie's Pond, a tradition reserved for the winner, something she will be hoping to change at Rancho Mirage this week.
The pair will tee off at 3.40GMT time.
