During this exceptional time of uncertainty that also impacts the world of sport, in a spirit of solidarity with the decision of the LPGA and LET, The Evian Championship has agreed to temporarily move the dates of its 2020 tournament.
The Evian Championship, one of the women’s golf majors, will be held at the Evian Resort Golf Club from 6 to 9 August 2020, beginning a run of European golf events, that include the Ladies Scottish Open and the Women’s British Open.
“Our main concern is obviously to ensure that the players from all over the world and our entire ecosystem continue to pursue their sport in the best possible conditions. When LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan told us about his scheduling issues, we naturally stepped up. This is how our partnership has worked for the past 20 years”, explained Franck Riboud, Chairman of The Evian Championship and Honorary Chairman of Danone Group.
“We have total support from our sponsors, who like us, uphold the values of solidarity and mutual aid that this unprecedented situation unquestionably calls for."
"There will undoubtedly come a time for new ways of envisaging leading sports events, but for the time being, our thoughts are with our teams and all those who belong to the big Evian Championship family around the world. We hope that everyone is safe and well."
