Suzann Pettersen leads the first major of the season, the ANA Inspiration, by one shot at Rancho Mirage, with many of the players still to complete their second round.

Having returned to the course early Friday morning, following a first round suspension due to wind, Suzann posted a four-under par, 68, which she followed that in the afternoon with a three-under par, 69.

Seven times Pettersen has finished in the top-10 at Mission Hills, including three times a runner-up.

“How can you not love this place? It’s heaven for golf and great surroundings,” said Pettersen. “Just really got to be on your A-game to feel like you can attack this course. I’m driving the ball well so I’m giving myself good irons into the greens.”

Minjee Lee, Nelly Korda, Inbee Park and Cristie Kerr sit one back of Pettersen at six-under par. Karine Icher and Michelle Wie are also at six-under par, but will return Saturday morning to complete the second round.

Charley Hull has also put herself in contention to win her first major championship. She had a putt late in her first round to take the outright lead but finished the day three shots behind at Pettersen after rounds of 68 and 72.
