Anna Nordqvist had a successful first day at the 2020 AIG Women's Open at Royal Troon.

She finished even after Round 1, and during Round 2 she shot a magnificent birdie on the infamous Postage Stamp 8th hole.

The par-3 hole is considered to be one of the best in the world, and playing in wind and rain, the conditions were tough.

But she tells us how her long-time friend and fellow Swede Henrick Stenson gave away no secrets about how he won the 2016 Open at Royal Troon.

"I know Henrick pretty well," she said.

"He obviously won at Troon and we both lived in Orlando for many years in the same neighbourhoodSo whenever I see him we always have a chat. I know he has a lot of fond memories of Royal Troon and so I texted him for advice a few weeks ago...

"But he actually just told me to watch the highlights!" she said laughing.

Asked if she would like to see Stenson create a ladies' tour for the Scandanavian players like Justin Rose did for the British, she is quick to point out that he already does a lot to support the game.

"A lot of the men already do stuff but it might not be publicised as much," she said.

"Hendrick does a lot and he has his junior tournament in Sweden. But the Rose Series was awesome and it happened at the right time when the girls needed something to play in. I think everyone is doing a lot to help, and it not always about how much its written about in the media. If you know you’re helping out then you can be proud of that, no matter if it's not getting as much publicity."
