At the start of June Olympic gold medallist Justin Rose announced that he was sponsoring a series of women’s golf events, and since then it seems like the good news just hasn’t stopped.
The buzz around the tour has just continued to grow and grow, and we’re over the moon to see that women’s golf is finally starting to get the attention it deserves.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been setting the scene for the competitions by bringing you the inspiring stories behind the players on the Rose Ladies Series.
Whether it’s Hannah Burke fighting to make a comeback after rupturing her Achilles, Nicola Bennett’s plans to get more ethnic minorities into the game or Gemma Dryburgh’s incredible, history-making back to back wins, we’ve loved finding out more about these tremendous players.
So we’re super excited to hear that these brilliant athletes now have more support coming their way.
Stephen Proctor, the CEO of research company Sports Marketing Surveys, has just announced that he is launching a new sponsorship programme for one exceptional player on the Rose Ladies Series.
Designed to promote women’s golf, the £7,500 scholarship will be awarded to a Ladies European Tour player who is working towards getting a card for the LPGA.
The company said the winner will be "selected primarily on the basis of performance and need” and we’re sure that whoever is chosen will be so thoroughly deserving of it.
The selection panel comprises of SMS chairman Stephen Proctor and ex-CEO of the European Tour Ken Schofield, and the recipient will be announced shortly after the final event at Wentworth.
It's such a kind gesture and we can't wait to see who is chosen.
