Scotland's Michele Thomson made her first appearance on the AIG Women's Open this week at Royal Troon.

The Ladies European Tour and Tartan Tour player told me she loved every second of her experience on the links, and part of the first pair out for the final day, she absolutely flew around her last 18 holes.

Playing with friend Johanna Gustavsson they completed their round in just three hours and 12 minutes, and finished with the next group still four holes behind.

Slow play definitely hasn't been an issue this week, and even Round 3 was completed 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

It's a stark contrast to the Ladies Scottish Open, where Stacy Lewis criticised the slow pace of play.

When I spoke to Aberdeen star Michele after her round she was beaming and clearly buzzing from her fantastic experience.

She finished +22 but shot a number of birdies throughout her four days in incredibly different conditions.

Of course making the cut at this Major tournament is an amazing thing in itself, and the Paul Lawrie Golf Club player should be so proud of herself.

She said:

"It's been amazing, I've had such a good week. To be able to play four rounds has been incredible. Obviously it's a bit eerie with nobody here but I've had a great time. We sprinted round today and playing with Joanna was so enjoyable, we've played a lot together. I couldn't have asked for anything better this week, except for maybe having my family here. It's disappointing that they couldn't watch my first one but hopefully there will be many more.

"I love the course, it's perfect for an Open and with the weather we've had it's been tough. The wind was especially intense on the second day. It's tough even with no wind!

"I don't know if us Scottish players had an advantage really as we're not used to that weather either. But I know how to flight the ball a bit lower and use my imagination, but these girls are great golfers, it doesn't matter what the weather is they're still going to shoot great scores.

"It's amazing that this event was able to go ahead and Royal Troon have hosted us, it means they are moving with the times and it shows that more clubs should get involved and support us too."

Michele and Catriona Matthew were the only two Scottish players to make the cut and play all four rounds.
