Giving yourself the best chance to succeed includes a multitude of factors. A surprising amount of them fall under the heading of emotional wellbeing - and for all the things you can’t control, taking care of those you can becomes of paramount importance.
Airport stress is one such thing, which is why I decided to drive as much as possible when planning my time in the US. If you haven’t spent much time around Americans, it’s worth highlighting that a ‘do-able’ road trip is far from what we Brits, or Europeans, would consider! Driving ten hours across three different states is preferable to aone-hour flight apparently.
Podcasts have become my new best friend as I attempt to navigate the mental tribulations of endless hours on the same road - and luckily for me, there seem to have been an explosion of golf ones recently. Whether I’m learning something about the game or laughing at English sarcasm, small things like that can make the lonelier side to professional life easier.
