Matt Wallace Masters

The much loved Masters is finally here and one of our favourite parts of the warm-up to the main event is the Par 3 contest! Since 1960, the Par 3 event has been played the evening before the Masters and is a true family affair, even letting the kids take a putt or two.

Once again the contest provided memories for golfers and their nearest and dearest during the annual Wednesday tradition at Augusta National.

The event was won by first-time Masters participant Matt Wallace, who beat Sandy Lyle on the third-hole of a play-off after both finished the 9-hole event on 5-under.

There were 4 hole-in ones during the contest including Mark O'Meara, the 1998 Masters champion, Shane Lowry who celebrated with his daughter, U.S. Amateur runner-up Devon Bling, and the winner himself Matt Wallace.

Take a look at some of the excitement from the event:

No player who has won the Par 3 event has ever gone on to win the Masters, but can someone break the curse this year? We can’t wait to find out!
