Olympic champion Inbee Park will make her long-awaited return at the LPGA Thailand Honda Classic later today, after a six-month absence.

The appearance will her first since claiming gold in Rio last August, and ends speculation about the former World No. 1’s retirement.

The Korean star was side-lined for much of last season with debilitating back and thumb injuries and has seen herself fall out of the world’s top ten for the first time since 2011.

“I took a lot of time off. I didn’t touch a club after the Olympics for about maybe four months,” Park said Wednesday. “I started practicing in December and until now I slowly got now practice time a little longer and longer.''

Park has stressed that her expectations remain low for the event, which takes place at Siam Country Club, despite a fantastic record in the tournament. She claimed victory in 2013, finished second in Thailand in 2014 and in a share of seventh in 2015.

She is paired on Thursday alongside 2007 winner Suzann Pettersen and 2010 champion Ai Miyazato.
