New Zealand's World No. 1 Lydia Ko is reported to be leaving her long-time equipment sponsor Callaway next season for new kid on the block PXG.
Lydia Ko’s decision to part ways with caddie Jason Hamilton last month looks like it’s part of a larger overhaul of her game, after it was reported that the 19-year-old will leave her long-time equipment sponsor Callaway next season for PXG.
The World No. 1 has been with Callaway since turning pro in 2014, but is thought to have been offered a better financial deal with the American-based manufacturer, who only launched onto the market a year ago. Ko won five times in 2016 but struggled for form in the last part of the season, eventually losing out to Ariya Jutanugarn in the race to be crowned LPGA Player of the Year.
PXG, which is owned by Bob Parsons, the billionaire founder of GoDaddy, currently has four LPGA players under contract in Gerina Piller, Alison Lee, Cristie Kerr and Beatriz Recari.
