After just nine events together, Golfweek have reported that Gary Matthews has become the latest caddie to be given the boot by World No. 1 Lydia Ko.

Prior to Matthews, Ko forged a successful partner with Jason Hamilton, with whom she worked with for two years. Hamilton’s exit last October was one of a series of changes undertaken by the New Zealander, which also included the sacking of her swing coach David Leadbetter, and the decision to switch to equipment manufacturer PXG.

Ko has been suffering a slump in form since last summer, and following a poor start this season has seen her top spot come under threat from two-time major winner So Yeon Ryu and Thai star Ariya Jutanugarn.

Despite the substantial time she worked alongside Hamilton, Ko has quite a history when it comes to caddies. On accepting the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year in 2014, she joked about the long list of caddies she’d worked with during that season.

“I want to thank Scott, Mark, Steve, Steve, Domingo, Fluff, Greg, Jason.”

She has yet to announce who will be on the bag when she next tees it up at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in Irving, Texas, April 27-30.
