The mixed event on Monday June 8 will feature huge names from the women's game including Carly Booth, Amy Bouldon and Meghan MacLaren.

We've long campaigned to see more equality in the world of golf and so it's fair to say we love everything about the brilliant, gender-equal 2020protour.

The tour is the brainchild of professional golfer Chris Hanson and it sees both men and women play for the same prize money and on the same terms.

The only difference is that the women's tees are placed closer to the pin.

The first two 2020protour events were a roaring success and took place back in March at Crosland Heath and Huddersfield golf clubs in Yorkshire, but of course since then any competitions have been cancelled as the tour was forced to go into lockdown like the rest of the world of professional sport.

However, the tour is now back and marking its return with a huge event on Monday June 8 at Cleckheaton Golf Club, Yorkshire.

The women are out in full force too with a line up that features incredible female golfers such as two-time Ladies European Tour winner Meghan MacLaren, Scotland's Carly Booth and Wales' Amy Boulden.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Hanson said that interest in the event had been tremendous, with players from both the men and women's tours desperate to get back out there and play:

“If you think about the ladies game there’s nothing for them to play. You’ve got the Ladies European Tour and the Access Series, which are both expensive and around Europe.

“So we’ve set this up. A lot of other tours said females could play in their events but for some of them they are playing off the same tees which is unfair.

“We also speak to the guys at each event to make sure they’re happy with where the female tees are because it’s got to be fair for the guys as well. It’s a learning curve."

10 percent of the field was  women in the previous two events and although the tour was initially aimed at golfers in the North of England, the start sheet for Cleckheaton proves that players are now travelling from all over the country to take part.

Many more 2020protour events are scheduled over the coming months, with the next two at Yorkshire venues Oulton Hall on June 15 and Howley Hall on June 28.

We think it's a fantastic idea and we wish all the players (but mainly the girls) the best of luck at Cleckheaton.
