Play has been suspended at the Grand Final of the Rose Ladies Series after a fire has broken out on the West Course, Wentworth Golf Club.

All the players are safe and have been evacuated from the course while emergency services are doing everything they can to tackle the flames.

According to Sky Sports Golf, the fire started on Chobham Common and then spread over the railway lines and near to the 10th tee.

Ladies European Tour player Annabel Dimmock shared some distressing videos on her Instagram stories featuring smoke and flames on the historical Surrey course. She said:

"This is a very sad sight... Wentworth doing everything they can."

Meanwhile, Sophie Walker who is reporting on the event for American Golf shared on Instagram:

"All players are safe and course has been evacuated."

Our thoughts are with the players, organisers and everyone involved with the tournament.

The blaze happened part way through the Round 3 of the Race to the West Grand Final.

Play will now recommence at 9.30am tomorrow morning (August 8) from the same positions.

After such a brilliantly successful Series, this is such an awful thing to happen on the last day.
