Families attending the revolutionary European Golf Team Championships at Gleneagles this week will be welcomed with free golf lessons, fun golfing challenges and live shows.
Families attending the European Golf Team Championships at Gleneagles from 7-12 August will be welcomed with free golf lessons, fun golfing challenges, and an opportunity to watch a live golf trick shot show with renowned trick shot artist Kevin Carpenter.
The exciting and innovative spectator village will also give visitors the chance to pick up some tips from legendary Open Champion, Paul Lawrie. The former Ryder Cup star will be in attendance in his role as a Glasgow 2018 Ambassador, with spectators getting the chance to pick up a few tips as he passes on some advice alongside PGA Pros in the “Have a Go” practice nets.
Visitors to Gleneagles will also have the opportunity to play The 2019 Solheim Cup 9-hole Pitch & Putt Course, situated in front of the iconic Gleneagles Hotel, which entitles them to 15 per cent off Solheim Cup tickets in September 2019.
Free activities in the spectator village include:
• 10m Long Putt Challenge
• Fun driving range activities
• Bunker challenges
• 6 hole putting course
• Lessons from PGA pros in the coaching nets
• Play The 2019 Solheim Cup 9-hole pitch & putt course
• Kevin Carpenter Golf Show (Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th August only)
• Meet Open Champion Paul Lawrie (Friday 10th August only)
Lawrie commented, "as well as the opportunity to come and watch world-class golf in a historic event, it is great to see so much for fans to do in the spectator village at Gleneagles for the European Golf Team Championships".
"Golf events provide a terrific day out for the family with something to keep everyone interested. I hope that people will be inspired by watching some great players perform on the course before having the opportunity to try it for themselves in the spectator village. I’m looking forward to seeing as many people as possible coming out to support at Gleneagles and hopefully introducing lots of new players to the sport."
And, of course, fans will be able to watch the historic action unfold over the scenic PGA Centenary Course, with men and women playing together in a new, groundbreaking format.
The inaugural European Golf Team Championships is backed by both the European Tour and Ladies European Tour and will take place at Gleneagles in Scotland from 8-12 August 2018 as part of the innovative multi-sport Glasgow 2018 European Championships.
The new format will feature a 50/50 gender split in the field with male and female professionals competing for equal prize money in both a Men’s and Women’s Team match-play Championship, as well as an 18-hole foursomes stroke-play Mixed Team Championship.
Players will represent their countries with 16 teams of two competing in the Men’s and Women’s Team events before combining to form teams of four (two men and two women) in the Mixed Team Championship.
