A press conference and Pro-Am were held at Kempferhof Golf Resort earlier this week which marks just one year to go until the European Ladies Open.
A press conference and Pro-Am were held at Kempferhof Golf Resort this week, marking a year to go until the European Ladies Open. The Kempferhof Golf Resort and Eventeam Group together announced that the new Ladies European Tour tournament will be held on September 26-29, 2019.
The participants had the opportunity to play with some of the best European players including Isabelle Boineau, Carly Booth, Olivia Cowan, Valentine Derrey, Annabel Dimmock, Sophie Giquel-Bettan, Noemi Jimenez, Camilla Lennarth, Florentyna Parker, Jade Schaeffer-Calmels, Anne Van Dam and Astrid Vayson de Pradenne. They played on the beautiful course designed by Robert Von Haage, who also made the final touches to The 2018 Ryder Cup Course; L’Abatros at Le Golf National. The similarities were clear to see, with plenty of large lakes and amphitheatre-style greens, all laid out on the banks of the Rhine river.
Having been played in Germany and England in the 70s and 80s, the event now has a new home in the European capital of Strasbourg.
The event follows on from the European Week of Sport, which promotes physical activity to all Europeans. The event will boost the participation of golf, particularly in the local region of Alsace.
With prize money of €300,000, the European Ladies Open will have the second largest purse in France, behind the Evian Championship.
The European Ladies Open has ambitions to become one of the best events in Europe, setting an example as a leader in the support of women’s sport and the growth of women’s golf, whilst also gaining brand exposure for Kempferhof Golf Resort as a leading destination.
“When we bought Golf du Kempferhof two years ago, we knew exactly how much potential the place has. We were reassured in our conviction when the course was voted amongst the most beautiful in Europe on multiple occasions,” said Pierre-Etienne Bindschedler, Golf du Kempferhof’s owner.
“Our ambition is to showcase our course, our region and our passion for this sport, but also to make Alsace a golf region known nationally and globally, so we took the initiative to host a Ladies European Tour event.”
