South Korean Eun-Hee Ji made nine birdies in 14 holes to card an opening round of 9-under par 63 at the Honda LPGA Thailand. She leads the field by two.
Ji won her fifth LPGA title at the season-opening Tournament of Champions in Florida last month and she picked up right where she left off this weekend.
After starting her opening round with an early birdie and a bogey on the third, Ji birdied nine out of the next 14 holes on the Old Course at Siam Country Club yesterday.
"I felt really great. I didn't miss any fairways and missed just two greens," Ji said.
Australian Minjee Lee, Danielle Kang from the US, and South Korea's Jenny Shin were close behind her with rounds of 65.
Lee was bogey-free when she made eagle at the 15th.
A quartet of players carded rounds of 64, three behind Ji: Americans Jennifer Song and Lizette Salas, Canadian Brooke Henderson, and Australian Katherine Kirk.
World Number One and 2013 runner-up, Ariya Jutanugarn shot a 4-under 68 with a somewhat mixed card of an eagle, six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. She ties with England's Bronte Law who had a much less complex bogey-free day.
Charley Hull is one behind them after a 3-under par round of 69.
