Double Rose Series winner Gemma Dryburgh and Nigeria’s Georgia Oboh are the beneficiaries of the final two invitations.
Georgia Oboh is one step closer to achieving her goal of being the first Nigerian to win on the professional golf circuit.
The Ladies Scottish Open is now just a couple of weeks away, and the Ladies European Tour player has recieved one of the final two tournament invitations to the event that is kicking off at The Renaissance Club, North Berwick on August 13.
The other is going to Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh, who has so far had a brilliant year.
She made countless headlines in the national press with her back-to-back wins on the Rose Ladies Series and now back competing on the LPGA and LET, we expect big things from her as both tours surge back into action.
Thrilled to be playing in her home country’s Open, she said:
“Huge thanks to Aberdeen Standard Investments and VisitScotland for giving me this opportunity. I would have hated not being able to play in what is one of my favourite events of the year, especially when I have been playing so well lately. We are all very grateful and excited to get back to The Renaissance Club.”
Meanwhile, Georgia Oboh has already made history by becoming the first Nigerian golfer to ever gain a card for the LET.
She only recently turned professional in 2018, but she has already done so much to inspire the next generation of female golfers in both her country and around the world.
As one of the highest ranked African golfers, she’s extremely excited to be competing in such a high-profile tournament.
Georgia commented:
“I’m really grateful to receive this invitation into such an important event on the LET and LPGA Tours. I have been working very hard to be ready to play amongst so many of the world’s best players and I think it will give me invaluable experience as I work towards achieving my dream of being the first Nigerian to win on the professional golf circuit.”
Georgia and Gemma will join fellow invitees Team Europe Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew and Japan’s Hinako Shibuno, and we can’t wait to tune in and watch all the action on Sky Sports and The Golf Channel.
