It was an an action-packed day at the first Rose Ladies Series event at Brokenhurst Manor.
The return of competitive women's golf in the UK concluded in a dramatic play off between Liz Young, who came up with the original idea of hosting a ladies' open at the Hampshire course and the 25th best female player in the world Charley Hull.
It was a close call, but Hull eventually emerged victorious after holing her putt in the play off.
Meanwhile, Gabrielle Cowley finished third, Hannah Burke fourth and Holly Cavert and Alice Hewson tied for fifth.
Hewson was the last player to win on the Ladies European Tour with a victory at the Investec South African Women's Open in March before the tour was paused due to the coronavirus pandemic.
For most of the players at Brokenhurst Manor, this was their first chance to play competitive golf since the South African tournament.
Despite the torrential rain, they were all evidently thrilled to be there and thankful for the opportunity provided to them by Justin Rose and his wife Kate, who also attended the event to cheer on the players.
The series has just announced that the grand final will take place on the Wentworth West Course, becoming the first competitive women's tournament to ever be hosted by the prestigious venue.
The next dates on the tour are as follows:
June 25 - Moor Park Golf Club
July 2 - Buckinghamshire Golf Club
July 9 - Royal St George’s
July 16 - JCB Golf and Country Club
July 23 - Bearwood Lakes Golf Club
July 30 - The Shire London
August 6 - The Berkshire Golf Club
August 7 - Wentworth Golf Club (West)
