Twenty-year-old Brooke Henderson has etched her name in the history books after her 4-shot victory this weekend, becoming the first Canadian to win the CP Women’s Open since 1973.

Fearlessly attacking the course and smashing her way to victory (her drives averaged 286 yards off the tee for the tournament), this weekend marks Henderson’s 7th LPGA win and means that she is now just one win away from tying with Sandra Post for the most LPGA wins by a Canadian.

Henderson opened the tournament with two rounds of 6-under par, 66, but her third round of 70 left her just one stroke ahead of the field going into Sunday’s final round. Birdies on the 1st, 5th, and 6th gave Henderson an early 3-shot lead, but it was after the turn that she really put her foot on the gas. With four back-to-back birdies from the 12th and a final birdie to seal the deal at the last, Henderson finished the day at 7-under par and 21-under for the tournament- four shots ahead of teenager Angel Yin.

Jennifer Song, who made six consecutive birdies from the 8th on Sunday, finished in 3rd spot with a tournament score of 15-under, 273. Minjee Lee, Amy Yang, Su Oh, and Austin Ernst all tied close behind in 4th at 14-under, whilst Nasa Hatakoa, Maria Torres, Anna Nordqvist, Lydia Ko, and Rolex No. 1 Sung Hyun Park all tied 8th on 13-under.

Bronte Law had another top 20 finish this week following on from an impressive four rounds at the Indy Women in Tech Championship. Law had three consistent rounds of 69 and closed the tournament with a final round score of 70 to see her tied 16th at 11-under par. Close behind her were Charley Hull, who finished in 23rd spot at 8-under par, and Georgia Hall, who was 7-under for the tournament and finished in 26th place. The recent Women’s British Open champion came quickly out of the starting blocks with an opening round of 4-under, 68, and followed that up with rounds of 70, 72, and 71 for the rest of the weekend.
