Brooke Henderson is about to embark on her 11th year on the LPGA Tour, here she talks about her off season, new equipment and switching from glasses to contact lenses
As the 2025 LPGA Tour season begins, Canadian golf star Brooke Henderson is ready to build on her past successes and make an impact on the course. The 13-time LPGA winner is set to tee off at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona, an event she won in 2024. Reflecting on her past performances and the work she has put in during the off-season, Henderson is eager to contend once again.
Off-season preparation and equipment changes
Henderson has dedicated significant time in the off-season to fine-tuning her game. She worked closely with her father, who is also her coach, and her sister Brittany, who serves as her caddie. One of the biggest changes for the 26-year-old has been switching to the TaylorMade Qi35 driver and hybrid, adjustments she believes will give her an edge in 2025.
“I feel like my game has been trending in the right direction for a while coming off the 2024 season,” Henderson said. “Been trying to put in some good work during the off-season, and just really looking forward to teeing it up.”
In addition to her equipment adjustments, Henderson underwent eye surgery in September to allow her to wear contact lenses instead of glasses, a change she feels has already improved her play.
“I feel a lot more free,” she explained. “I think in terms of putting and chipping, just being able to look down the line and not having to turn my head will be really helpful.”
Chasing wins and contention
Despite securing nine top-10 finishes in 2024, Henderson is determined to find herself in contention more frequently, particularly on Sundays.
“I would love to be in contention a little bit more,” she said. “I would love to have the opportunity on the weekends, especially Sunday afternoons, to be right in the mix and hopefully post another trophy here soon.”
Her primary focus in 2025 is to start stronger in tournaments, allowing her to be in the final groups more often. “The main goal is to be in the final groups, lower the scoring average a little bit, and see if the wins will come.”
Excitement for international events
Henderson is also looking forward to new opportunities on the international stage, particularly the International Crown, which now includes a world team.
“For a really long time, I’ve just sat and watched that event on TV. I’ve always wanted to be a part of it,” she said. “It’s really exciting to have an opportunity, and I really hope that I can be a part of that team come this fall.”
Additionally, she is eager to return to some of her favourite stops on the LPGA Tour, including Singapore and Thailand. “I love going to Asia. Singapore and Thailand are some of my favourite events all year. The season starts out very well for me, very exciting, a lot of good vibes.”
Honouring the LPGA’s legacy
With the LPGA Tour celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2025, Henderson took a moment to acknowledge the women who paved the way for today’s players.
“I’m so grateful to the 13 Founders that started this Tour and made it into what it is today,” she said. “Just the courage and the strength they showed 75 years ago—it’s a great way to celebrate that the Tour is continuing to grow and be elevated.”
One of the Founders, Shirley Spork, left a lasting impression on Henderson. “Back in 2016, one of the first years I met her, I was just out on the range hitting my 48-inch driver. She was in her 90s, and she just came over and started swinging it. Her swing looked amazing still.”
Family support and looking ahead
Henderson continues to thrive with her family by her side. With her father as her coach and her sister as her caddie, their close-knit dynamic has been a key factor in her success.
“My dad, he knows my game and my swing better than anybody,” she said. “My sister is right alongside, and she’s always doing the same thing. Always trying to work together as a team to get better every single day.”
As she embarks on her 11th season on the LPGA Tour, Henderson remains driven to improve and add to her already impressive resume. With new equipment, a refined approach, and a fresh mindset, she is ready to make 2025 a memorable year.
