World No 2 amateur Bronte Law, from Bramhall in Cheshire, finished in second place at LPGA Q-School Stage Two to advance to the final stage of LPGA Qualifying School. 

The England international finished on 6-under 282 to sit five shots behind Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord, who will head to LPGA final-stage qualifying for the first time since 2009.

“The Olympics and getting my LPGA tour card were my main goals this year,” said Skarpnord, who represented Norway in Rio. “I’ve done one so hopefully I can do the second in a few weeks.”

The other Brits to advance were world No 1 amateur Leona Maguire, Ladies European Tour Mel Reid, Scots Gemma Dryburgh, Kylie Walker and Sally Watson, Curtis Cup star Charlotte Thomas and England's Eleanor Givens and Hannah Burke.

The final stage will start on 30 November at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida. with the top 20 finishers earning LPGA membership for the 2017 season.
