Anne Van Dam from the Netherlands maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard at the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open. She now leads the field by five strokes heading into Sunday’s final round.
After opening the tournament with a pair of 66’s, 22-year-old Van Dam carded a 6-under-par 65 yesterday to move to 20-under.
Lacoste Ladies Open de France winner Caroline Hedwall climbed into the second spot with another 9-under-par round. The Solheim Cup star had nine birdies on her card, but a few missed chances meant her round could easily have been a 59- two shots lower than the Ladies European Tour’s all-time record score for 18 holes.
Day one leader Celine Herbin slipped into fourth position at 13-under par with a third-round score of 67. She is just one shot behind South African Women’s Open champion, Ashleigh Buhai. Buhai propelled herself to the third spot after a 7-under par 64 yesterday.
Spain’s own Carlota Ciganda shot an 8-under-par 63 to move to 11-under, with Klara Spilkova and Aditi Ashok a stroke further back.
Carly Booth from Scotland regained her opening day form with a round of 67 to move into 11th place at 9-under, closely followed by England’s Rebecca Hudson at 8-under. Our very own columnist, Meghan MacLaren is also edging her way up the leaderboard. After rounds of 72, 66, and 68 she is currently 7-under par and holds a tie of 17th position.
