Amy Yang fired an 8-under 63 on Thursday to take a two-shot lead over Marina Alex heading into the second round at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.

Amy Yang overcame a rain delay on the second day of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia to retain her overnight lead. After ten straight birdies the Korean hit the shot of the day, when her second found the hole at the par-four 11th and despite dropping a shot at the 14th, bounced back with a birdie on the 16th to hold a three-stroke lead at 10-under par.

“It was about 20 feet downhill, right-to-left. I just picked a spot and just trust there and make a solid putt,” Yang explained.

“I think it will be similar to like today,” said Yang. “So you know, golf can be really easy like yesterday, but it can be also a little slow like today. So I'm just going to be patient, do my best. I've been practicing hard, so I'm just going to trust what I've been practicing.”

Anna Nordqvist rose up the leaderboard on day two after a solid round of three-under 68, although the swede had to wait two hours to hole her final putt of the day after bad weather disrupted play.

“Yeah, we knew it was going to be cutting it close, and we saw the rules official on the last green, so we were kind of surprised that they wouldn't, you know, see that we were so close,” explained Nordqvist. “But you know, I had a good chat with my friends and kind of just relaxed and hit a good putt on the last, didn't go in.”

She sits at tied 2nd alongside Candie Kung and Mi Jung Hir on seven-under-par.

England’s Charley Hull and Jodi Ewart Shadoff are the leading Brits on T-27, nine shots behind the leader.
